Friendly Surfer Ethics

Here are a few suggestions from the community to help maintain the magic family feeling that is extremely rare to find in surfing spots anymore, anywhere in the world:

DON'T BRING A CROWD

We all know what it feels like to be surfing with your friends and watch 5 or 6 people paddle out at the same time. Try to be conscientious of how many friends you bring. If you do bring a crowd, spread out to different spots and surf at different times.

SHARE THE WAVES
If you just caught a set wave, let the next one slide through for someone else. If you are on a longboard, that doesn't give you priority for all set waves. The deepest on the peak doesn't mean you have the right to go every time.

SNAKING
Party waves are super fun if all people involved agree with the party. Blatant drop-ins are not cool and consequently repeat offenders will be invited to a Thanksgiving feast to have some serious stuffing the rest of the session.

Have fun, laugh and enjoy, and be sure to observe the ethical guidelines. The majority of surfing areas are way too stressful and aggressive. Here we can choose to share, laugh, talk and really enjoy what surfing was meant to be - fun!

Times are changing and even our area is developing, but we can choose to help slow the process down and keep our spot a unique little secret.
